Personal Investments • Re: Automatically reinvest settlement income from TIPS: possible?

Hi folks,

I bought some secondary market TIPS (actual TIPS, not a TIPS fund) in my IRA last year that pay me distributions throughout the year. The money goes into my settlement fund.

Is there any way to automatically invest these distributions in another investment?

I obviously can't reinvest in TIPS, but is there a way to tell Vanguard "Any time money comes into my settlement fund, buy that dollar value of Fund X?"

I am aware of the Vanguard automatic investments feature, but the settlement fund balance will likely be zero most of the time unless a TIPS distribution has just occurred.

Thank you in advance!
No.

You can set up automatic buys, at least in a taxable account. But you can set it up as a trigger like this.
